Building a Fraud Prevention Framework for Your AP Function
Whether we like it or not, the threat of fraud is with every organization, regardless of size. Crooks don't discriminate; they steal wherever they can. It is a critical that the accounts payable function be constructed in such a manner that it will be difficult for a fraudster to penetrate it. This, unfortunately, is a lot harder than it sounds. With advances in technology, changes in regulatory requirements and a continued focus on keeping costs to a minimum, it is more difficult than ever to structure your payment function to keep risks to a minimum. What's more, the fortress you build today may not protect you tomorrow.
After this session you will be able to:
•Identify potential segregation of duties issues
•Implement best practices to thwart all types of payment fraud (ACH, check, p-card and expense reimbursement)
•Create practices that thwart those looking to defraud your organization
•Weed out practices that unintentionally facilitate fraud
•Detect commonly overlooked internal control weaknesses
