One of the worst trainings I've experienced. I thought this would be more training on different things Excel/Word could do. Not going in depth on a subject I don't use. Excel was "touched on" for 10 minutes out of 100?! And only tables were talked about. Very disappointed in "Microsoft Office Shortcuts". The title is VERY misleading!

too many objectives were listed to be accomplished in the 90 minutes and with the added questions, some things were rushed thru or at the end, not thoroughly covered.

The presenter did a great job, but it was some stuff I already knew so which was not his fault. It would be nice for a 5 min break half way through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mastering Microsoft Office shortcuts can dramatically reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. In Word, the Styles feature automates consistent formatting across headings and body text, and a Table of Contents can be generated in just three mouse clicks from properly styled documents. QuickParts allows you to save and insert frequently used text blocks—such as standard disclaimers or signature lines—instantly, eliminating retyping. In PowerPoint, Slide Masters let you update the design of every slide simultaneously rather than editing each individually. In Outlook, Rules automatically sort, flag, or forward incoming messages based on defined criteria, and Quick Steps execute multi-action sequences—such as reply, move, and flag—with a single click. In Excel, table formatting and list management tools streamline data entry and analysis. Across all applications, customizing the Ribbon to surface your most-used commands reduces navigation time significantly. Professionals who invest in learning these efficiency tools consistently complete tasks faster, reduce errors, and present more polished work outputs.
Styles in Microsoft Word are predefined formatting sets that you apply to text to ensure consistent appearance throughout a document without manually adjusting fonts, sizes, and spacing each time. The real power of Styles comes from their connected functionality: applying Heading styles to section titles enables Word to automatically generate a table of contents, create navigation panes, and update all headings simultaneously if you change the style definition. To use Styles, select text and click the desired style in the Styles gallery on the Home tab. To customize a style, right-click it, choose Modify, and change the font, size, color, or spacing—Word will instantly update every instance of that style throughout the document. Normal style governs body text, while Heading 1, 2, and 3 create your document hierarchy. For professionals who produce recurring documents—reports, policies, training materials—building a custom style set that matches organizational branding eliminates repetitive manual formatting and ensures professional, consistent output every time.
Slide Masters in PowerPoint are the master template that controls the design, fonts, colors, and layout of every slide in your presentation. Instead of manually updating each slide's background, logo, or font when you need to make a change, editing the Slide Master propagates your changes to all slides instantly. Access Slide Masters through View > Slide Master. There you'll find the top-level Master slide and a series of layout slides beneath it. Changes made to the Master slide—such as adding a company logo or changing the background—apply to every slide using that master. You can also create custom layouts within the master for specific slide types, such as title slides, content slides, or comparison layouts. For professionals who build presentations regularly, setting up a properly configured Slide Master at the start of a project saves significant rework time and ensures brand consistency across all slides. Organizations that create a custom Slide Master template aligned to their brand guidelines eliminate inconsistent formatting as a source of unprofessional presentations entirely.
Outlook Rules and Quick Steps are powerful automation tools that reduce the time and mental overhead of managing a high-volume inbox. Rules are automated actions triggered by conditions you define: when an email arrives from a specific sender, move it to a designated folder; when the subject contains certain keywords, flag it for follow-up; when a newsletter arrives, delete it immediately. Rules run automatically in the background, keeping your inbox organized without manual intervention. Quick Steps are one-click multi-action sequences for handling emails interactively: for example, a single Quick Step could reply to a message, move it to a project folder, and mark it as complete—three actions with one click. They're ideal for repetitive workflows like forwarding updates to a team channel or archiving processed requests. Together, Rules handle automatic sorting and filtering while Quick Steps accelerate your responses to common email scenarios. Professionals who configure both tools report dramatically reduced inbox management time and fewer missed action items, making email a less disruptive part of their workday.
The Microsoft Office Ribbon is fully customizable, allowing you to surface your most-used commands in a location that matches your personal workflow rather than hunting through multiple tabs. To customize the Ribbon, right-click anywhere on it and choose Customize the Ribbon. In the customization dialog, you can add new tabs or groups, remove commands you never use, and reorder tabs to match the sequence in which you typically work. You can also add any command—including those buried in menus or not displayed by default—to a custom tab or group. The Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) above the Ribbon offers an even more accessible customization layer: add your most-used commands (Save, Undo, Print, specific formatting options) to the QAT so they're always visible regardless of which Ribbon tab is active. For power users who spend significant time in a single application, customizing the Ribbon and QAT to reflect actual working habits can eliminate dozens of navigation steps per day—compounding into substantial time savings over weeks and months of regular use.
