Tesha Mendez

Tesha loves accounting, numbers, and sharing knowledge with others. She is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She is the founder of Scenic City Advising, Inc., an accounting firm in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area.

Prior to starting her firm in 2022, she spent 16 years in Corporate America. After college,she provided reporting expertise to a large, Fortune 500 insurer in their Investment Accounting, GAAP & SEC Reporting, and Executive Compensation Departments. Next, she transitioned to a fast-paced, play and recreational, private equity company in acquisition mode and managed the financial reporting for 40+ brands. Later, she transitioned again, but this time to public accounting, with KPMG assisting on a large M&A revaluation.

Today, she uses her wide breadth of experience across corporate accounting to help small business owners get clarity over their numbers, pay themselves consistently, and grow their businesses. Additionally, she uses her decade-plus of deep statutory insurance knowledge to guide insurers on being statutory compliant, quickly onboarding new acquisitions, and setting up statutory reporting software.

Her firm, Scenic City Advising partners with two main groups: small business owners and small to mid-size insurers.

Small Business Owners: Scenic City Advising manages your QuickBooks Online account. They handle reconciliations, deliver your monthly financial statements, and have scheduled calls with you to explain what your numbers mean so you can make smart decisions.

Small to Mid-Size Insurers: Scenic City Advising provides statutory ready financials for insurers so that you understand your company's true financial health and have reliable data to guide business decisions. Additionally, they provide targeted, project-based support for new acquisitions and specialized statutory software onboarding and/or training for Sovos and Gain Compliance.
