Michael Baer

Michael Baer built his career helping those in payroll avoid exposure and improve performance through awareness and education.

He served for nearly three decades as Managing Editor at Bloomberg Tax (formerly BNA), overseeing domestic and international payroll news, analysis, and regulatory developments. More recent roles include consulting on public policy, public relations, and visibility for global payroll organizations. His background also includes foundational payroll and HR roles with Marriott and leading people management operations for the Shanghai Hilton.

Mike continues to advise payroll operations and service providers on compliance, payments, data privacy and security, technology management, and communications through Baer Unlimited, LLC.

A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Mike is a member of PayrollOrg’s Payroll Hall of Fame, has contributed to PAYTECH Magazine, Global Payroll Magazine, JD Supra, and others, and is an active industry mentor.
