The Windows 10 Start Menu is more customizable than many users realize, and a well-organized Start Menu can significantly reduce the time spent launching applications and finding recent documents. Live tiles on the right side of the Start Menu can be resized (small, medium, wide, or large), pinned from any installed app by right-clicking the app in the All Apps list, unpinned to remove clutter, and rearranged by dragging. Grouping related apps under named sections—such as 'Microsoft Office,' 'Communication,' or 'Tools'—creates a visually organized launcher. The left panel of the Start Menu can be configured to show or hide shortcuts to File Explorer, Settings, Documents, Pictures, Downloads, and other frequently used locations via Settings > Personalization > Start. The Start Menu can also be expanded to full-screen mode for users who prefer a tile-dominant interface. Disabling live tile animations for infrequently used apps reduces distraction. Windows 10's multitasking features allow users to work with multiple applications simultaneously without constantly switching between them, which research shows significantly reduces cognitive load and improves productivity. Snap Assist lets you snap an active window to one side of the screen by pressing Win+Left or Win+Right Arrow, then automatically suggests other open windows to fill the other half—enabling side-by-side reference while working. For four-way splits, use Win+Up/Down Arrow after snapping to a side to create quadrant layouts, ideal on large monitors. File Explorer (formerly Windows Explorer) is the file management tool in Windows 10 that allows you to browse, open, copy, move, and organize files and folders across your computer and connected drives. Several features make file management significantly more efficient when used deliberately. Quick Access, at the top of the left navigation panel, pins frequently used folders for one-click access—folders can be pinned by right-clicking and selecting 'Pin to Quick Access,' and infrequently visited folders can be removed to reduce clutter. The search bar in File Explorer supports filters such as 'kind:document' or 'date:this week' for narrowing results. The View ribbon tab allows switching between detailed list view, icon view, and preview pane—the preview pane is particularly useful for reading document contents without opening the file. Grouping and sorting files by type, date modified, or size within a folder view speeds up locating specific files in large directories. Libraries allow you to aggregate folders from multiple locations into a single virtual view. Windows 10 offers powerful built-in screen capture capabilities that go far beyond the basic Print Screen key. The modern Snipping Tool, launched with Win+Shift+S, allows you to capture a rectangular selection, a free-form selection, an individual window, or the full screen—instantly copying the selection to your clipboard for pasting into documents or emails, or saving it as an image file. The Snip & Sketch app (which replaced the classic Snipping Tool in more recent Windows 10 versions) adds annotation capabilities, allowing you to draw, highlight, or write on captured screenshots before sharing. For capturing scrolling web pages or capturing content that requires timing, the delay capture option lets you set up the screen before the snip is taken.
