Do you have any other comments, questions or concerns?
I have taken several webinars through Aurora Training Advantage now. In all of them, the presenter spoke extremely slowly and without much inflection. It has felt like I my time might be better spent just reading the materials. The engagement is minimal, limited to a few survey questions and a question and answer session at the end. I am finding these to be very dry, one-sided, and not terribly engaging. The information is helpful and important, but the presentation has left me feeling unimpressed.

The training was ok overall but the instructor seemed to be straight reading the course and it was challenging to stay engaged. Personally I've heard the whole SMART goal setting info a hundred times but I'm sure it was helpful for someone who was not familiar.

Do you have any other comments, questions or concerns?
This training session's description led me to believe that I would learn techniques for helping me with making myself more efficient. The information that I was interested in was towards the end of the presentation. The presenter took a lot of time in the beginning and rushed through the end.

The graphics were very blurry and hard to see in the presentation. Also, I would've liked a few more seconds to answer the survey questions.

I would like the training to have a little more upbeat to it. I felt as if the contact was great but there was a time when I was getting lost in thoughts because it was the too mild tone.

The content of the webinar was different from what I expected. I was anticipating a focus on time management, a greater focus on dealing with organizing an extreme number of competing tasks. I feel that the class instead was focused on project management. I signed up because I have far more tasks and things requirements of me than I would ever have time to do. I was already familiar with project management techniques and did not think that was what I signed up for. I did not think the tagline of "Are you buried in paper or electronic clutter?" (which was what attracted me) was addressed. I expected tools to organize my inbox, voicemails, and day. The information provided was accurate, but not new or helpful to me. The pace of the class was slow. I am overwhelmed because my job expectations far overrun any reasonable capacity, and am looking for tools to increase or automate capacity.

Unfortunately, I didn't really get much out of this one. I was really hoping for some 'out-of-the-box' thinking or new ideas, and this fell really short. Also, the technical issues didn't help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reducing clutter — both physical and digital — is foundational to professional organization, and it begins with a simple audit: identify what you actually need access to regularly versus what is simply accumulating. For paper clutter, implement a consistent filing system with clear categories and a regular purge schedule so documents do not pile up. For digital clutter, organize files into a logical folder structure, apply consistent naming conventions, and use inbox zero or equivalent email management strategies to keep your inbox actionable. The key insight is that disorganization is almost always a systems problem, not a discipline problem — when systems are clear and easy to follow, they become habits. Many overwhelmed professionals spend more time searching for things than actually working, which is a direct productivity drain. Learning structured planning and organization strategies, including the use of proven templates and tools, creates the foundation for sustained professional effectiveness.
A structured five-step planning process provides a repeatable framework that transforms vague intentions into actionable outcomes. The steps typically involve: (1) clarifying the goal or objective, (2) identifying the tasks and resources required, (3) sequencing tasks and estimating time, (4) scheduling tasks into your calendar or task manager, and (5) reviewing and adjusting as progress unfolds. This process is more effective than reactive, ad-hoc work management because it creates intentional structure — you decide in advance what gets done and when, rather than responding to whatever is loudest in the moment. Professionals who plan consistently report higher task completion rates, fewer missed deadlines, and lower stress, because the planning process itself resolves ambiguity and surfaces obstacles before they become crises. Using sample planning tools and templates makes the process accessible even for those who have never formally planned before, and structured training provides the practical scaffolding to make planning a sustainable habit.
SMART goals are a widely used framework for writing objectives that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound — each attribute serving to sharpen the goal from a vague aspiration into a clear, actionable commitment. A specific goal answers who, what, and why; a measurable goal defines success criteria so you know when it is achieved; achievable goals are realistic given available time and resources; relevant goals connect to broader priorities; and time-bound goals have a defined deadline that creates urgency and focus. For example, instead of 'improve my organization,' a SMART goal would be 'create a digital filing system for all client documents by the end of the month, reducing file search time to under 2 minutes.' Writing SMART goals is a skill that improves with practice and is transferable to both personal and professional contexts. Having concrete examples to reference accelerates the learning process, and training on SMART goal development provides templates and guided practice.
Creating and keeping deadlines consistently requires both a planning mindset and reliable systems. Start by breaking large deliverables into milestones with their own internal deadlines — this prevents the all-too-common pattern of underestimating complexity and scrambling at the last moment. Build buffer time into your schedule to account for interruptions and unexpected tasks, which are inevitable in most professional environments. Use a single, trusted calendar or task management system where all commitments are captured — fragmented tracking across sticky notes, email reminders, and mental notes leads to missed deadlines. Regular weekly reviews — where you scan the coming week and confirm your commitments are on track — are a simple but powerful habit that keeps you ahead of deadlines rather than reacting to them. For those prone to being followed up on or reminded by others, developing these personal accountability structures reclaims professional credibility and reduces the stress of perpetual catch-up.
Practical planning tools and templates provide structure that removes the cognitive load of figuring out how to organize every day from scratch. A weekly planning template — with designated spaces for priorities, appointments, tasks, and review — creates a consistent starting point that becomes faster to use over time. Project planning templates help break complex work into phases with assigned deadlines, owners, and status tracking. Time-blocking schedules, where calendar time is assigned to specific work categories, prevent reactive task-switching and protect deep-focus work. Digital tools such as Trello, Asana, or Microsoft To Do offer visual task management with deadline tracking and collaborative features. For simpler needs, a well-designed paper planner or spreadsheet template works equally well. The most important factor is not which tool you use but whether it captures all your commitments in one trusted place and supports a consistent daily review habit. Training on planning tools and organization systems helps professionals find the approach that fits their working style.
