So, you’ve recently been promoted into a supervisory or manager role? Congratulations! Do you have team members who are also friends or friendly peers, and now everything just seems awkward? Are you considering ending friendships because they now report to you? Before you take that leap, create a fair and respectful plan to maintain friendships while drawing a line in the workplace sand. Join us for our online webinar, "How to Go from Buddy to Boss After a Promotion," led by Wendy Sellers. Learn how to navigate the complexities of managing friends and peers with confidence and professionalism.

Your Benefits For Attending:

  • Addressing the Awkwardness Head On: Learn strategies to confront the initial awkwardness of your new role immediately. Understand why direct and professional communication is essential to maintaining a healthy work environment.
  • Team-Wide Accountability: Discover how to prepare your entire team for collective accountability. Gain insights into fostering fairness and respect without playing favorites or overburdening friends with excessive expectations.
  • Setting the Example: Understand the importance of relying on facts and maintaining confidentiality. Learn to avoid using “friendly” gossip and rumors when making workplace decisions to set a professional tone.
  • Staying Friends with the Buddy Who Lost the Promotion: Explore options and potential outcomes for maintaining a friendship with a colleague who lost the promotion to you. Discuss strategies to navigate this sensitive situation while keeping professional relationships intact.

Why Should You Attend:

Most businesses in the USA are small businesses (under 500 employees) whom often promote from within to maintain institutional knowledge and manage budget constraints. Large businesses do this too! Teams that are “friendly” often have each other’s back and support the department's mission and vision. However, conflicts are inevitable, especially when your friend becomes your subordinate. This webinar will equip you with the tools to handle these challenges effectively, ensuring a smooth transition from buddy to boss. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and foster a harmonious work environment.

I really, really like the handouts. It makes this easier to take notes on and refer back to.

There was a lot of information about bias that took up the majority of the presentation. I understand this is an important aspect of the job posting process, but it was a very entry-level presentation for recruiters/HR pros that are beginning their career. I recommend that a training on biases is separate than job postings, notifications, and company liabilities. There was a lack on content for all three of the training's title. I was expecting this to be more relevant to the way job postings are written and what certain states require. The blog she referenced was published in 2023 and many laws have changed since then.

I don't think she took a breath throughout the presentation! LOL She is a quick talker, but I appreciate the content and her enthusiasm.
