As the demand for remote work continues to rise, organizations must stay ahead of the curve by implementing legally sound telecommuting practices. With over 3.9 million U.S. employees now telecommuting—driven by advancements in technology, evolving family needs, and the long-term impact of COVID-19—employers must be prepared to manage the legal and operational implications of a distributed workforce. This webinar will equip HR professionals, legal counsel, and business leaders with the critical tools needed to navigate the growing complexities of remote work compliance.

Through a comprehensive overview of legal considerations and risk mitigation strategies, this session will cover how to develop a formal telecommuting policy, when and how to use telecommuting agreements, and the legal nuances surrounding ADA accommodations and discrimination claims. Attendees will also learn how to reduce liability risks associated with telecommuting injuries and ensure proper protection of company property and confidential data. Whether you're expanding an existing remote work program or building one from the ground up, this webinar will provide essential guidance for maintaining compliance and safeguarding your organization.

Your Benefits for Attending:
  • Identify key legal considerations when approving or denying employee telecommuting requests
  • Learn how to determine whether your organization needs a formal telecommuting policy
  • Explore best practices for drafting a comprehensive and legally compliant telecommuting policy
  • Understand when telecommuting agreements are necessary and what they should include
  • Clarify your responsibilities under the ADA when telecommuting is requested as a reasonable accommodation
  • Avoid discrimination claims tied to inconsistent telecommuting decisions
  • Gain strategies to mitigate liability if an employee is injured while working remotely
  • Learn how to secure company assets, equipment, and confidential data in remote settings

Why this webinar is a benefit to attend:
Attending this session will empower you to confidently manage your organization's remote work structure while minimizing legal exposure. You’ll walk away with actionable tools to support both compliance and operational efficiency in a remote-first or hybrid work environment.

As an HR Mgr. for over 30 years, I have dealth with FMLA and I agree it is overwhelming and cumbersome. As a presenter I wouldn't provide your own opinions on how overwhelming it is or your political views. It isn't necessary. This whole ideaology when created was for serious health conditions. Today this topic is so over legislated and abused. I was totally looking for helpful hints in dealing with the overall abuse. In this day and age, we can NOT give the employee everything they want and advising employers to do so is wrong. Businesses don't stay in business when you do that. People may be inherently good but when given total freedom, it is taken advantage of and abused. So many physicians in our geographical area do whatever the employee requests, not what would be expected as reasonable for a particular health condition. We do everything we can to assist employees, but we also make them follow the rules.

Perhaps presenter should not voice her own opinion on FMLA and polical issues, but instead should state facts. Presenter gave employers no guidance for combating FMLA abuse, but instead stated that if you want to attract and retain employees you have no choice other than to give them what they want. Please-- get in the real world of FMLA compliance and abuse. We live it. This course leads people to belieive that employers have no options. Very disappointing.

While 90 minutes is not a short amount of time, I do wish this were longer or perhaps a 2 part series as the FMLA topic can certainly keep on going! But the session was great and very useful for me as someone newly working with employees on FMLA. Wendy broke the topic down into sections that made sense and were easy to follow.
