Navigating the complexities of electronic records management is more critical than ever for Human Resource professionals, particularly as the shift toward digital documentation accelerates. This webinar offers a foundational overview of Electronic Information Management (EIM) and dives deep into the legal, technical, and practical implications of records retention and destruction. HR professionals will gain insight into why indiscriminately retaining or discarding data can expose organizations to significant legal risk.

This session will explore key legal rules affecting HR-related records, including personnel files, emails, instant messages, voicemail, and disaster recovery backups. You'll also learn how to develop and apply compliant and defensible records retention policies, the legal triggers for suspending routine ESI destruction, and how to prepare for a paperless transformation. With a focus on real-world application and legal compliance, this webinar will equip you with the tools needed to build a sustainable and legally sound records management framework.

Topics Covered:
  • Fundamentals of Electronic Information Management (EIM)
  • Legal implications of data over-retention and under-retention
  • Developing a defensible Records Retention Program
  • Key HR data retention regulations
  • Transitioning to paperless operations securely
Your Benefits for Attending:
  • Understand why retaining all data—or none—can be legally hazardous.
  • Identify the legal and practical considerations for implementing an effective Records Retention Policy.
  • Learn how statutory, regulatory, and judicial requirements determine key retention periods.
  • Explore best practices for organizing and storing employee personnel files and sensitive HR-related records.
  • Gain clarity on when and how to defensibly destroy ESI and when legal holds must be applied.

This webinar is a must-attend for HR professionals looking to enhance their knowledge of legal compliance in electronic records management and safeguard their organizations against costly data missteps.

Who Would Benefit from This Webinar:

Human Resource professionals, HR compliance officers, and anyone responsible for managing employee records and organizational data.

I would love to see an advanced version of this. I feel this was more intermediate and for those learning about FMLA. I would love to see one touch base more on WC with FMLA.

The subject of the training was about Complaints intertwined with performance issues. As a trained investigator, I felt too much of the time was spend on general information about a good investigation (good materials and this part was well presented) but I did not learn anything new from this training which is reflected in my answers to the survey. I was expecting more time to be spent on how to detangle the performance issues from the complaint, with more than one example of a very poorly run investigation. I think this training would have been better marketed as a intro investigatory training. I did appreciate the review of best practices for an investigation, and I like how the presented presented the information. It just did not meet my expectations based on the title for which I signed up.

This was a very informative training. I really enjoyed the video examples. We ran out of time at the end. I would have preferred it be a two hour training with a short break so we could have covered the last handful of slides/information.
