In today’s high-pressure work environment, stress and anxiety are becoming increasingly prevalent. But distinguishing between normal emotional responses and diagnosable mental health conditions is crucial—especially when those conditions may qualify for protection under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

This informative webinar will guide employers and HR professionals through the legal and practical implications of mental health in the workplace, with a focus on understanding how stress, anxiety, and PTSD can become ADA-covered disabilities.

You'll learn how to recognize when a situation requires legal accommodation, what qualifies under the ADA, and how to create a supportive yet compliant workplace culture. With mental health issues on the rise, it’s essential to stay informed, proactive, and equipped with the tools to navigate complex situations compassionately and legally.

Your Benefits For Attending:
  • Know the Boundaries: Understand when everyday stress and anxiety are considered ADA-protected conditions.
  • Clarify Coverage: Learn which mental health disorders, including PTSD, qualify for protections under the ADA.
  • Master the Approach: Gain insights into how to effectively and legally approach mental health conditions in the workplace.
  • Address PTSD: Stay ahead of the growing trend of PTSD diagnoses and what it means for your organization.
  • Take Action with Confidence: Discover the right steps to take when an employee shares their mental health diagnosis.

This webinar is an invaluable opportunity to build confidence in handling sensitive mental health issues while ensuring ADA compliance and fostering a respectful, informed workplace.

The title of the Webinar is misleading as there were no discussion of hottest trends or even trends. Just recap of already known legislation. I would appreciate if you can refund my course fee.

The following info is not about today's program, but is more macro in nature. The Go To Meeting platform does not support closed-captioning. Aurora should consider sharing this feedback with Go To Meeting, or consider looking for another platform. Also Aurora should institute an SOP that requires all presenters to enable closed captions via their side (not sure what this is, but it was done today). Captioning is critical/useful to those with hearing challenges and for those who may have English as a second language. In the spirit of inclusivity, instituting captions will expand Aurora's reach and it will prevent disengagement/frustration from participants who benefit from that service. Thank you!

The presenter made a point to say personal details should be left out of hiring to reduce discrimination, then shares on more than one occasion that she advocates for hiring moms/parents because of a generalized notion that they know how to handle multiple priorities, pressure, and such. Her experience with such isn't everyone's.This coupled with data that better fits her narrative and/or conflicts with other data I've seen from reputable sources, she wound up losing me somewhere halfway in. My advice to her - stick to the topic, remain neutral with personal opinions, and she should take her own advice.
