She presented in a way that was very conversational and common sense.

Employee conduct outside of work is a gray area. Our presenter, Susan Desmond, had an expertise level of knowledge for the field. I valued hearing the cases she presented, court findings, recommendations for organizational policy/procedures, articulating differences between federal and state laws and finally giving time at the end to answer specific questions/scenarios that attendees presented her. The hour went fast and was well worth my time to protect our non-profit Circle the City, as well as treat each team member fairly & equitably.

I have heard this presenter before and what is disappointing is she has a bias and it comes across as such...speakers should be unbiased and present facts on both sides of the aisle and only what the laws state.

This was a very disappointing training. It seemed fairly evident that the trainer was not comfortable presenting on the topic, as she stated that she just recently found out what an "ally" is, and also used language that was outdated and hurtful to the community that she was presenting about. The trainer also referred to this as being a new topic and compared it to COVID at one point in a weird reference... I am an HR Manager in the state of Washington, and I will acknowledge that we are a very progressive state here; however, even when I was working in the same field Nebraska three years ago, (a much less progressive state where I was born and raised), this was not new information or a new topic. I understand that everyone is on their own equity journey, but the ad for this training was a misrepresentation and should have been presented as a foundational or basics training around the EEOC and LGBTQ+ rights at best. Also, please try to choose trainers who can use language that will propel the equality and inclusion movements forward rather that referring to people as "the lesbians", "transgenders" or stating that she didn't like the word "queer". Gender Queer is an identity. I was not sent the survey, so I had my co-worker forward me hers.- Kindly, Rebecca Miljavac, she/her/hers
