Human resource professionals know it is no longer easy to handle employee leaves. Instead of being concerned with company leave policies and workers’ compensation claims; employers now have to consider a host of other laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. During this webinar, we will walk you through this minefield. In this webinar you will learn:

Agenda:

  • When employees are entitled to intermittent or other leave under the FMLA
  • What is a serious health condition under the FMLA
  • Calculating intermittent leave under the FMLA
  • When a leave of absence can be a reasonable accommodation under the ADA
  • Is attendance an essential function of a job
  • New EEOC guidelines under the Pregnancy Discrimination Act
  • When can you terminate for excessive absenteeism/tardiness
  • Running paid leaves concurrently with the FMLA

If presenter could find a way to make the embedded links work in the presentation that will be archived, it would be helpful. It is possible as we do it here at work. One would just click the link on the slide and it would take them to the video.

Seems there are many technical difficulties with various webinars as the last 3 or 4 I've attended all had this issue. This webinar would have been fabulous if the videos would have worked. I'm hoping Aurora and the presenter can find a way to offer a link or someway to watch the videos as they were instrumental to the overall presentation. Is there a way that presenters can practice the presentation via Aurora to try to resolve technical difficulties before the live performance?

no fault of the presenter but the videos didn't work which made it difficult to grasp the entire concept of what she was trying to present. This is why I made the comment the program materials did not contribute to the presentation. Also, she rushed through items at the end I believe due to the technology delaying the start at the beginning. She should have extended the time and let people drop off who could not stay on rather than skip through them.

Disappointed the audio on the video clips not working...from an HR perspective we gain a lot from visual cues and intonation.

Do you have any other comments, questions or concerns?
I was disappointed that the majority of the presentation focused on one example of an investigation rather than several examples. I felt like I learned about how to handle one type of corrective action related to performance rather than several types of scenarios.
